Sauger called last night and wanted to fish the Sunday AM TX out of the state park. I said OK, and awoke to some snow on the ground and HIGH winds. The wife said we were crazy, so off we went. Got to the ramp, no one there, waited until the blast off time, still no one. So we went fishing. Within 5 minutes we had a good solid 4 lb smallie in the boat on a new CB. Moved to a little diffrent location and boated 2 more smallies (1 Keeper about 2.5 lbs) and a 3-15 Largemouth. 3 solid keepers in the boat in the first hour and half. Moved to another cove fished it hard, and only mustered up one small largie. About 11 AM the ice on the boat began to melt, so we decided to make a run to another spot up the lake. Pulled in to the next spot and commenced to put 4 smallies in the boat in 10 minutes 1 Keeper, and lost another potential keeper. Moved on down that bank a little and put a solid 3 lb largemouth in the boat. The sun then pop out and the bite died. We tried one more spot and I missed a good solid hit and that was it for the day. The wind was perfect today, 20+ out of the NW and the water temps were 46-47. All fish came on medium running crankbaits. We would of had a solid 15.5-16 pounds today. Good sack on Tims in my opinion. Talked to BentRod this morning and he had drove to all the boat ramps on the lake and said ours was the ONLY truck and trailer on the lake this morning. I wish we had a camera with us it was a beautiful site this morning with all the snow around the lake and with the lake churned up it was quite the sight. Sorry I did not take a camera with me as I thought we were TX fishing this AM. I wish this weather would stay around for a while or it would just go ahead and get warm, one of the two. I would vote for the nasty stuff like today though. mallard
