Today was a wet one but a good one. I called junkie and he said he wanted to go along. I told him if it was pouring I was staying home. emoAngry Got up this morning and there was just a light sprinkle at the time so we decided to try it. Met up with him at HBSP at 7:15. We loaded his stuff and noticed there was a dozen or so boats that had already launched and we figured they were over at Chester for the CATCH. We left wanting to get up river before they blasted off.

Got there and started slow rolling blades but to no bites. emoScratch Thought that would work but the early bite was not a blade. Junkie switched over to a crank and shortly there after said, "I got a good one!" It was a good one, he fought it in and it looked bigger then it was but a nice one none the less. I netted it for him and weighed it,...4 pounds 5 ozes. Nice fish. I switched to a crank and nothing. Switched to a shakey head and bame..one on, up comes one of the biggest goggle eyes I have ever caught. You could have filleted that thing. He sets the hook and up comes another bass. I set the hook and up comes a bream. emoDoh I set the hook again and up comes a crappie. emoDoh emoDoh I start to see where this is going. emoGoofy We moved and started throwing the blades again. Junkie set the hook and up comes another nice keeper. emoBadLanguage He is kicking my butt! Finally as I am slowly rolling the blade one nails mine and up comes a very nice spot that is 2 pounds and 6 ozes. I said take my picture, at the rate I am going this may be the biggest I catch. emoBooHoo It wasn't...we go down a little farther and another nails my blade, this time a very long LM that tipps the scales at 2 pound and 13 ozes. We take another pic. emoDance Now I am feeling better. Make a few more casts and another nails it, it comes up, looks like a good one, junkie goes for the net and bloop, it just comes unbuttoned. emoDoh

Move to a large shallow flat and throw traps. About decide there are none that shallow and in about two foot junkie sets the hook again. This time another nice keeper but only 2 pounds and 1 oz.

Move again this time to a creek and work some bluffs and ledges. Junkie nails two on a shakey head and I can't get a bite. I changed to the jerk and slow it way down. Twitch, pause, twitch pause, sink, twitch pause...BOOM! one nails it. Junkie nets it and it is 2 oounds and 7 ozes. emoThumbsup

We catch a couple more on shakeys but no keepers. Move again. Started working docks with shakeys and one taps mine. I double check and it is moving off to the side. Set the hook and HANG ON!!!! Big fish! Takes off under the dock and I can't stop her. I try to turn her and Bame!....line snaps. emoMad Junkie makes me feel better by telling me if we had entered the tournament I may have just lost a $10,000 dollar fish. emoEek We fish on with a couple more slicks but we are both getting wet and worn out.

We decide to call it a day at 3:30. Not bad a day at all but Junkie really put it on me in numbers and the biggest. emoWorthy We ended up with our best five being 2/1, 2/6, 2/7, 2/13 and the 4.5. By my count that is an even 14 pounds for our best five. emoToast

Most fish we caught were not too deep today from 6 to 12 feet. Junkie did have the one in two feet on a trap. We caught most of our best ones on blades but also at the shakey head, the jerk and the crank. Eight keepers with 17 in the boat.

Thanks for going with me junkie. Smile

C-ya on the water. emoAngler Jmax
