Put in at Skull Island at around 8:00 and had to really ease my way out. Fog was really thick. I finally made it over to the far side of the river and headed down towards the Sequoia bluffs and the community docks but even with the heavy fog somebody beat me to them. So I fished around in that area awhile until the fog thinned out some. I picked up 1 keeper crappie, a couple of throwbacks and 1 decent channel cat. I then decided to head up river and try to get away from some of the crowd. Turned out to be a good move. When I took out at 3:00, I had wrangled up 41 crappie, including 26 keepers. One was a personal best 2lb. 5oz. (15 inches long) and another just missed the 2 lb. mark at 1lb. 15oz. (14 inches long). Polo-Dog must be rubbing off on me because I released those two after some pics to hopefully have a successful spawn. I also had 3 other fish 13 inches and I'm pretty sure this was my best limit of 15 crappie ever. Needless to say, I had a blast today. The fish came on 32nd oz heads and most on ringer stingers. ( Red/Chart & Pearl/Chart). Most of the fish, especially the bigger ones came off wood. I had the most success in about 10 to 12 FOW and they nailed it usually on a 4 to 6 count. Things are looking up.
I'm headed back out this evening and changing gears to try a bit of bass fishing. Hope it goes as well as it did this morning. Hopefully I'll have that report on here sometime tomorrow. Good fishing guys!
