djbogle, Nick Tailwaters, Striper, Hybrid, Whites, Drum, 4/2, solo

After two days in the turkey woods without hearing even ONE gobble, I was sipping my coffee at 4 AM this morning and said to myself, "Self, turkey hunting be damned, I'm going fishing". As it happens, it was one of my better choices in quite some time.

Put in below Nick at 6:45, and after I discovered that my cranking battery was too low to charge the swirls repeatedly, I opted to tie to the wing wall. Started out with a good whitey, and shortly after I hooked a submarine. It was a 8-7 Hybrid. About 15 minutes later and it was on again, except it was a 10-8 Striper. Now, being a grocery fisherman, both of these went into the livewell, so I had to release two more Hybrid, a 12-9 and a 8-5. Had another fish break off, and, of course, it felt like a monster. I also brought in 3 drum, one a 22 lb. Another angler gave me 11 more whiteys, so I finished off the limit and they also won a boat ride. Caught everything on a bucktail with a 4" glow-shad. I watched a couple of guys fishing live minnows and they hung into several fish, as well.

Turned out to be a pretty good day for groceries. emoHungry
