emoFish I went fishing at the tailwaters of Nickajack Dam with my son (Matt) and daughter-in-law (Barbara) Saturday night, getting back about 3:45 Sunday morning. Just as we started to nail some nice cats on night crawlers, they killed a turbine and we lost them. Sunday PM, we wanted to hit the water in the daylight. They could not get anyone to watch their two boys so Matt was going to go but decided to let Barbara go since she has never fished the tailwaters from a boat. We tied up to the turbine side of the wing wall and baited up with night crawlers. Her first fish was a 3 lb drum and she was thrilled. Then a 12 pounder, and so on until she had just about every size between 10 and 18 pounds, with a three pound catfish as well. She loved it! We had also netted some 3-4 inch shad minnows and they were nailing those along with the crwalers. I had landed a couple of 2-3 pound cats and a few small stripes as well. I told her it was her turn to get a stripe. Shortly after that, her rod doubled over and she had a runner on her line. I told her that it was pulling more like a stripe than a drum and sure enough, an 18 pound, 35 inch long stripe was the catch of the day for us. All she was saying as we headed home around 9:00 pm was; "I want to do that again!" Wouldn't we all!
