Decided after selling and installing alarms we would make a mad dash to the Nick and try to get there before the Carl Reed open dog fight started. We made it with five minutes to spare.
Neither of us had been on the Ncik since last year so we were fishing blind. We thought they would be on beds but if they were we could not get those fish to bite. Had to shift to a little deeper bite on staging areas near spawning flats. I got a four in the boat the first stage area we hit. emoThumbsup Shakey Head. Paul nailed the next two off a brush hot with one about 2.5 lbs. It was a slow bite and with only three hours we moved faster then what we might should have. Hit several areas and finally paul hooks up with another good fish on a shakey, gets it coming to the boat, looks like a big one, he was working it slow trying to not have it jump and it just comes off. emoDoh Worked in the area a little longer and I catch two slicks. Finally as dark is setting in I get another tape on the shakey and up comes our third and final keepers. Just over the fifteen mark and maybe two pounds. emoRolleyes At least we got a limit. I bagged them to weigh them knowing we had between 8.5 and nine pounds but when I got up there they already had two elevens and two nine bags. emoBooHoo I decided to not even put the fish through it and just released them. We had a good time, none of our fish looked to have fanned tails and none I saw did either. They seem to be spawning late this year. I posted the results under "tournaments". emoAngler Jmax
