Back on the water!
#1
Sunday, 04/26/09- Hit the water early (5:30am). Motored to the Las Vegas Wash, on flat water to look for shad.

Awesome sunrise! No Shad. Headed upstream to the Overton Arm.

Boulder Canyon (Narrows)

Took about an hour to get to Stewarts Point at 35mph. What a great boat ride!

[inline "salt bay 017.jpg"]

Anchored in 30' of water off a point the GPS called Salt Bay. Chummed a ton, started soaking cut-bait.

Action was steady for small stripers until the anchor was pulled up at 2:15.

A couple of cats joined in.

Ended up with a cooler full of fish!

Headed downstream at about 2:30, back at the dock about 4:00, pushing a head wind the whole way. What a great day!

[cool]Nice to hear that someone caught some fish sunday. Iwas out south of 33 hole at gray light til 10:30am without a single bite on lures and 'chovies. Way to go on the stripers. I have never fished stewarts point. It sounds like and looks like a very fishable place. Nice pics as usual.

Nice to see ya again BaySport! Good job in the overton arm! Im gonna have to hit stewarts point soon... Can I launch a kayak from shore easily up there?

Sorry about your skunk BigE- I went out today (tues) from about 11am to 2:30pm fishin around Callville. Fished all afternoon for nothin, then said "alright, one more cast and Im going in" and I got a smallmouth that went about 9". Cute little guy, but he had what was at least a 4/0 hook lodged in his throat.
Good thing the poor dude is still eating!

First time for me in the Overton Arm. Nice country up there. Right now it seems like the bite is on for cut-bait fishing. Some stripers were kind of skinny though.

Looks like it would be easy to launch a kayak from shore. Check out the area, I'm glad I did!

Hey Baysport! We went out of Echo Bay on Sunday, fished across from Stewart's Point all day. Caught a nice bunch of stripers, and also caught 1 cat. It was a busy day, caught a bunch of small ones too. We were told the marina at Echo Bay was starting their "move" out to deeper water on Monday, and wouldn't be open until May 5. Electricity was allready shut off, ready to start the move. Don't know if the landing area will be open until then or not. Getting there from Temple Bar might not be too bad, but still long.

[cool]I've done that also. "One more cast" and boom! But it happens very rarely.

Been out there myself twice this year. Actually had really good luck but nothing of any size. How far from the Echo Bay launch is Stewarts Point? I looked for it but didn't seem to find it. I'm stuck between Temple Bar and Echo bay, they are both very nice areas in my opinion but I'm leaning towards another Temple Bar night fish!! Good luck to all of you.
