I fished with my favorite fishing partner this afternoon for 2 hours. Mrs DK accompanied me on a crappie foray. We did good despite the breezy wind that was whitecapping the river in some places. I had to run the trolling motor on 3 just to stay even. We fished 4 different docks and caught fish off every one. Nice keepers mostly as we only had 7 throwbacks today and finished up with 16 keepers and 1 spotted bass that went into the livewell. Wanda just hates to release fish. emoBigSmile We lost several fish that we had on that we saw and they were very nice keeper sized crappie. After losing about 6 or 7 fish, I changed to the bleeding red hooks and we never lost another fish after I changed. They should have been on our lines to begin with, but I tried some new hooks that I bought and they didn't have a very big barb and the fish just pulled off.

We fished with panfish assassins, ringer stingers, bg shads, and puddle jumpers, but the best lure was a panfish assassin look alike called a stubby butt in the albino shad color with a tail light. It was a dynomite color this pm. Wanda caught about 1/2 of the fish including some of the biggest crappie that we caught. We fished from 4:30 to 6:30 pm and the lake temps were 72.6 the last time that I looked. We fished the shady side of the docks. All the fish that we kept were females that had spawned out and a couple were absorbing the leftover eggs. I had one strike that was so vicious that it broke my line within 3 seconds after hookup. Probably a big catfish or bass. emoGeezer
