I called Pat Ryan last night to see if he was interested in spot fishing today. He was more than ready to go. Of course he didn&#39;t start catching fish until 1 hour after we started this AM. emoPoke We had a great day of fishing.<br /><br />Totals: 77 spots, 3 largemouth bass, 1 smallmouth, 7 bluegills, and 3 goggle eyes. We lost about 50 bass or more that jumped off before coming into the boat. I didn&#39;t use MadBomber rules today. emoBig
<br /><br />We started off fishing topwater and I caught 8 spots very quickly. The 8th spot was a nice one and we netted that fish. Old dummy DK laid his rod on top of the livewell and while extracting the bass from the net and then removing the hooks from the fish, he then, as his custom is, tossed the lure overboard before looking around for the rod and reel. To his chagrin, he watched that topwater lure disappear along with his practically new rod and reel that had somehow managed to get overboard without either of us seeing or hearing it hit the water. emoBang emoBang emoBang <br /><br />Then all I had to fish with was ultralights and Bassert had one very tiny ultralight topwater lure that was the same lure that I had lost. I continued to catch fish on this lure, but lost so many cause I couldn&#39;t get a good hookset with the crappie rod. Finally put that rod down and went to fishing 1/16oz jigs with a plastic rainbow minnow. Fish really like this little lure. You can&#39;t buy them now cause that kid in NC that owned th molds, sold them to a company in California and they quit making this lure. You can buy lures that are imitations of this, but the plastic is thicker and doesn&#39;t have nearly the action that this has. I&#39;m not selling any of mine either. emoBig <br /><br />I caught 3 largemouth bass. The 2nd one was the largest, but I didn&#39;t get a pic of it as it was bleeding pretty badly and I wanted to get it back into the water asap. It was 1.5 pounds bigger than those in the pics.<br /><br />The Aquarium boat passed up 3 times during the morning and it stopped each time and creeped by us. We watched it while it was on plane approaching us and the wake wasn&#39;t too bad until it slowed down, but they can stop that boat on a dime. That was nice of them.
