I decided to give the Hiwassee a try this afternoon 5:pm to 8
M. The first 30 minutes were sort uneventful throwing spinner baits and Texas rigged lizards in tree tops in 6-8 foot of water.

I saw some shallow fish running shad in a flat and moved in. The water was so shallow I couldn't use my trolling motor so I had to stop and tie on something heavy enough to cast a good ways. I tied on a bleeding shad rattle trap and chunked it as far as I could throw and started burning it back to the boat. WHAM
Bass #1 smacked it first cast. I kept throwing traps for the next 45 minutes and caught 18 bass. Several keepers but nothing special.

I picked up my spinning rod and tied on a pearl fluke with a 1.0 Hook and slung it up in some shallows. Twitched two or three times and BOOM caught a nice
3.5 pounder. I fished with it a few more minutes and caught 7 slicks.

I doubt the water was more than 2 feet deep anywhere I caught fish. Water temp was 66 degrees the one time I remembered to look.

I sure do wish we were holding the Ratman TX at B&B Marina this week. emoLaugh
