Well it started off pretty bad up there with the weather. We got to the ramp about 8am and put in and headed through the marina to the lake. WOW!!!!! what a lake 3-4 ft swells with the wind. Headed up river and fished a few coves and caught alot of fish. I would say around 25 headed across the river about three miles to go into Barkley and boy did we get wet from the swells and wind. Fished main lake points and coves and caught about 20 more and felt like we were doing nothing because they were hitting everything and they were all short fish but a few. So we decided to leave and go check into the hotel and get a hot shower and get a bit to eat. So in 3-4 hours we had boated nearly 50 bass. Second day we got up early and went down to the ramp and it was a monsoon out there with alot of lightning so we decided to go to KY Lake Outdoors and check out what they had and about an hour later and $100.00 poorer we left and went back to the ramp and put in the lake was pretty calm and we decided to go straight to Barkley and fish some of the same as we did the day before. Found some decent fish on points and a few bedding fish. Left that area and went to the canal and fished the ledges in there. Good action and we boated a few more keepers. Left for the day with around 45-60 bass boated. First day of the tournament we had boat # 145 so around 6:20 we finnaly got to blast off. We went to our first hole we had decided to start on and well lets say unfishable. They were pulling water through Kentucky dam and the wind was blowing pretty hard and we couldnt keep the jigs on the bottom or the crank baits antwhere we wanted to fish we decided to move to the Kentucky side of the canal and fished the main lake point and started catching fish. Pops lost a very nice largemouth about 4 lbs and we caught about 10 shorts from this spot. We packed up and headed up river and stopped in a cove that we had checked out but not fished yet. First cast wham hokked up and she pulled off never seen her but she was a toad of some sort. Finally put a few keepers in the boat and proceded to look for more spots like this one. neveer got another keeper in the boat. Most of our fish came off of cranks and a few on jigs. We weighed in a whopping 3 somthing pounds. Second day we went back to the most productive spots we had and fished all day with only buck bass biting all day. Stayed on the Kentucky side and fished points and ledges with loosing a few nice ones on DD22's. Moved back down river and boated about 30 off of one spot and finally a keeper 2.70 but no more. Finished the tournament with 3 fish at 6.52 and placed 133 out of 221. Took a two day total of 42.66 lbs to win the tournament. Had a blast on a lake I have never fished before cannot wait to go back. See three bald eagles and a cow elk man what a trip.
