Another interesting day on the water! I had my bait tank half-full of a mish-mash of bait, bought or caught or netted over the last week, so I used them to entice whatever was in the mood today.

I used threadfin and shiners on the bass and white bass with rather mediocre results. Largemouth were few and small, only found one spotted bass, and no smallmouth. I caught one really nice crappie on a brush pile, and the white bass that I found were not stacked up in big schools today, but they were fiesty.

The blue cats came through for me very nicely today. They were hard to find, and even though there were a bunch of folks out trying, I only saw two fish caught, looked like a 6 and a 10. Once I found them, I had a ball. I used bluegill, threadfin, big golden shiners, and even a big gizzard shad and had luck on pretty much everything. I had two big fish come unbuttoned (happens with big baits) and still landed a 21, two 18's, a 16, two 14's, two 8's and two 6's!!!

The cruisers and river chiggers were definitely warming up for the weekend, but were quite polite again today. I wouldn't count on that behavior continuinig for the big weekend - be careful out there!

Oh, and be careful of the sun. Despite my being out a lot this year, I burned pretty well today when I wasn't looking.....................
