polo-dog, Chichamauga, Crappie, 5/20/09, TR20bh, Jim Frost

Got out on the lake for crappie yesterday and had a great day with TR20bh and Jim Frost of Frost Cutlery. We got out there at about 2:15 and fished until around 7pm. Fished main lake cover in 5-15 feet of water. Most fish were caught on a 6-8 count with 1/32oz jigs with Panfish assassins. I caught a couple on BG shads. We ended up bringing home 31 keepers with about a 2-1 non-keeper to keeper ratio. Must have caught between 75 and 90 crappie. It was windy and my two partners caught most of the fish while I was positioning the back of the boat where they could hit the cover. There was also good flow, I haven't looked at the flow numbers from yesterday yet. The water temp was up to 75 degrees when we quit. The fish were still biting when we finished up. The crappie filleted up nicely and filled a 1 gallon zip lock where I could barely zip it. Jim says he's going to have a fish fry one day soon. They should be good.

I failed to get any pics, sorry for the "fish story".

Guys, don't quit on the crappie, they are still out there to be taken.
