Well, I screwed up and left fish this morning. We started out fishing a deep channel between two points and were witnessing some awesome topwater action. The shad were packed in there tight and the bass were ambushing them left and right! I was throwing a Spook and Faith was working a Rage Shad. I boated several on the Spook, but none of great size. It seemed that they weren't wanting to commit to the Spook, but rather just slap at it and knock it out of the water. Had TONS of blowups, but only boated about 6 or 7 in the first hour or so. The bass were dropping deep and waiting on the shad to get bunched up. As soon as a boat came by and stirred up the water a little, then it was game time! These fish were some of the most aggressive fish I have seen in a while on topwater. It was literally a blast to chase them around the 100yd radius that we were working. Caught all of our keepers there, then for some reason decided to move elsewhere....bad idea.<br /><br />Hit a few spots upriver to no avail. Had one real good spot in mind way down next to the dam, so we fired up and headed that way....get close to this spot and see 3 boats within casting distance of it emoBang So never even sat the boat down. Swung it around and headed back up river. Made a few quick stops on some deeper holes, but didn't mark much and coulfn't get a bite on the C-rig or DD22s. Finally went back to where we started but just couldn't get back on the fish. Finished with a small limit, but didn't even weigh them after seeing the top 10 boats with nearly 7lbs or more. We had one decent fish, but the 2 others were 15.000001" and weighed about a pound and a half each. All fish caught on a Spook and Rage Shad. No luck with C-rig, DD22, Trap, Blades, or Spoons.....<br /><br />Had a great turnout this a.m. with 22 or so boats! Glad to see that many folks show up on short notice! I think JMax may have to keep putting his "Legend" DFs on a few times a month! emoThumbsup We had a good time and the weather cooperated!
