Andrew, Nick (Suckcreek), Bass, 5/27/09, JDK

Met Josh at the Suckcreek ramp early this morning... We were on the water at 7am and the rain was coming down hard... It finally cleared up around 9am and we got some sun for awhile.. Just wasn't a good day for spots on the Nick... Took about an hour to get the first fish in the boat.... We hit every hole you could think of and hardly could get a bite... Finally got on a long bluff wall and started catching some spots on cranks and jigs mainly..... Water temps were around 72 to 74 degrees... Lot of muddy water and hardly any current and lots of huge logs in the water and debris in alot of places... I know not having any good current was the reason we weren't catching alot of spots.. We never found a pattern to work on as we only got a bass here and there... Fished from 7am to around 5pm and got maybe 20 bass in the boat.... Lost quite a few lures today but if you ain't in the brush your not catching anything good anyways... Probably the worst day I've ever had in all my years of fishing down there.... Was a good day to be out tho...

I'm going to comment on that river boat we saw today.... It's first time I've ever seen it and I thought it would have been alot bigger... This thing does have some big wake lol and would swamp a small boat if you were to close to it... We were the only boat on that part of the river till not long before we left... That river boat came down and back up again at least three times I think.... Each time the captain slowed down way before he ever got to us and never sped up till way after he passed up... Very courteous of them... Each time he passed us we were on a diff part of the river and the captain had to think these guys are crazy.. To compare bout the only other boat we saw today was a huge yacht that had a much bigger wake than the river boat...
