If you like to daydream ahead about things to do and places to go with the Quad-City Times Plus 60 Club, here's a chance to circle an important date on your calendar - especially if you like to go fishing.
Yes, the annual walleye fishing trip to the Lake of the Woods in northern Minnesota is ready for sign-ups.
A new board member will be handling reservations this year. Deb Elvert of Davenport and her husband, Jerry, have all the details for the Sept. 3-7 trip at the special Plus 60 price of $589 per person, double-occupancy.
That includes motorcoach transportation, four nights at Ballard's Resort on Lake of the Woods in Baudette, Minn., three days of guided walleye fishing, 12 meals and angling equipment.
A nonresident angling license can be purchased at Ballard's for $21. You'll need your Social Security number to make the purchase.
If you're interested, call Deb and her husband at (563) 322-8554 and a brochure will be sent to you. A $200 down payment will hold space. The check should be made out to the Quad-City Times Plus 60 Club and sent to: Deb Elvert, 5110 Nobis Court, Davenport, IA, 52802.
The trip is limited to 54 fishermen and women.

Here's the schedule:
Wednesday, Sept. 3 - Depart Davenport at 5 a.m., arriving at Ballard's Resort about 5 p.m. Evening dinner is included.
Thursday, Sept. 4 - Breakfast is at 7 a.m., then guided walleye fishing until 5 p.m. Lunch is included on the lake, with dinner in the evening.
Friday, Sept. 5 and Saturday, Sept. 6 - Same as Thursday. Why would you want to change a perfect fisherman's itinerary?
Sunday, Sept. 7 - After breakfast, the group will depart for home with the midday meal served on the coach. Arrival in Davenport should be about 7 p.m.
I know people who don't fish who just want to go along for the ride, to relax in the cabins in this peaceful setting, to read a good book and be pampered with all those special meals.
Each unit at the lodge has a living room, two single beds per bedroom, a bath, TV, towels, bedding and daily maid service.
The 27-foot Sportscrafts include equipment, bait, tackle, on-board restroom facilities and fish processing. The boats accommodate six anglers, plus a Coast Guard-licensed guide.
"Travelers are welcome to bring a small cooler for food and beverages on the ride up and for transporting fish on the way home," Deb Elvert says.
Now, last year's Plus 60 president, Eileen Benson of Bettendorf, said she'd rather watch paint dry than go fishing, but Dr. Wilcke proved that Quad-Citians don't share that point of view.
