Brooklyn Center, Minnesota - Winners of the 2009 Wildlife Forever State Fish Art Contest have officially been announced. Over 2,100 contestants from 47 states participated in this year's contest. Youth in grades 4-12 used their talent and imagination to draw or paint their official state fish while learning about fishing and fisheries conservation.
"The State Fish Art Contest not only introduces youth to fishing but it also teaches them about fish conservation. The old saying about 'give a man a fish and he eats for a day, but teach him to fish and he eats for a lifetime' is so true, and the State Fish Art Program takes it one step further teaching students about conservation." said Pat Conzemius, Program Director for Wildlife Forever.

Winners Page. You can even view and purchase your favorite fish artwork as several different fish products ranging from coffee mugs to neckties. All art work is guaranteed original. About the State-Fish Art Contest
The Wildlife Forever State-Fish Art Contest encourages young artists nationwide to create an illustration of their state-fish and a written composition on behavior, habitat and efforts to conserve it. Entries are categorized by grade level: 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12. Students compete for prizes from Rapala and scholarships from The Art Institutes International Minnesota. Winners are selected from each state in the three grade categories and are invited to Mall of America in Minnesota to be honored at the State-Fish Art Expo, August 1st. The U.S. Forest Service will be donating 5,000 White Spruce trees to Expo guests and Mall shoppers. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will be hosting an afternoon fishing clinic at the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge. For more information, visit www.statefishart.com.
