RangerRob, Chick, CFF #5 Nite TX, 6-5, Churly
#1
Churly and I battled wind and current trying to nail down a mainlake bite before the sun went down, but alas, TVA and ma nature won. With only a few small fish and what would have been a sure 4-5 lber that came off at the boat just as I went over the side w/ the net, we were looking at an empty well as the sun set. With our plan of limiting before dark shot to pieces, we just focused on the windswept banks and decided to dink and dunk.

After 6 hours of said dinking and dunking, we'd culled a few and headed in with our 12-and-change limit of spawned-out mamas. The after-dark pattern produced solid bites all evening - just no kickers - and came in the 2' - 5' range with plenty of nearby deeper water. The bass were caught on DJW jigs, plastics, and DJW spinnerbaits, but all keepers fell for the heavy thumping spinnerbaits retrieved at a clip I would define as being just slightly faster than a crawl. Churls threw a single colo and I threw a heavy double colo in typical night-time colors.

Thanks to the other 34 boats for coming out on a beautiful Chickamaschlawgie evening!
