Give me a break. emoDoh I am snake bit this year for sure and that is all there is to it. emoConfused

I called fishinjunkie last night at 9 and told him I was heading for the lake in the morning and try again. He said he would go but not until 8 since he was doing the 4th thingy. Got up this morning at 4 a.m. and it was pouring at my house. emoRain Decided to wait. 5 still raining....6 still raining....7 still raining, called FJ and told him I was calling it off. At 8:30 it slowed way up and was barely sprinkling. Called FJ but no answer, decided to go and try it. Got there and it started raining again. emoRain No one was hardly there, the rain had the party boats and most of the fishing people staying in. emoThumbsup Had it to myself and the water was calm but the rain was steady.

I thought since it was overcast and raining a little the top bite might be on. Headed for a rock point and it did not take long. One hit my spook and missed it. The next one hit and inhaled it. Good fish, fought it in and she went 4 lbs and 1 oz. emoThumbsup Started working the rocks and the bank with deep water close by and got four more to come up but only one of those would keep and it was a spot. Moved to a long point that goes out into the lake that has patches of grass on it. Started fan casting out on top of the grass and one exploded on it like a car battery had fell in the water. Drag ripped off and the fight was on, it jumped completely out of the water twice and looked to be six lbs at least. emoEek Have you noticed they alwasy look bigger then they are in the water. emoBig
Still it was a great fish. Got her in and wieghed her, 4 lbs and 5 ozes. Did not get another on the spook there so I started fanning a xr50 in crome. Made several cast and she loaded up. A nice keeper about 2 and a quarter came in. Nothing else there so I moved to some grass beds. Hit them for a while and nothing. Moved down some more to some more grass and another LM nailed my spook. Only went 14.99999 inches. emoTongue Made some more fan casts over the grass and just when I was thinking they were not there, ....one hit in about 2 feet of water, just killed it. emoEek She looked very big as well so I wieghed her also, only 2 lbs and 15 ozes. I started thinking to myself, how much is that....4/1, 4/5 and 2/15.... emoDoh that is 11 lbs and 5 ozes,....where the heck were those big ones yesterday. I guess with the overcast and rain, as well as the lake by myself they were just more willing to hit. I sure could have used them yesterday. emoBawl

The sun started to break out so I left the spook bite and went on the drop shot hunt. Ledges and edges....did not take long. Found a good pod of bass on a drop at 18 to 24 feet. Sat there and brought in several good ones. A couple would have gone 2 and a half but none better then those other three. Not a bad day, best five would have broke 16 lbs. I left at 1 and headed home. emoCool
I did not count each fish but I am thinking I boated about 15 to 17 in all today.

Hope to do that good on Friday at the ratman. emoToast Jmax
