drumking, chickamauga, bass, 7/06/09, alone

I fished for just about 1 hour this morning for bass. The schoolers showed up again this morning for just a very few minutes. They didn't stay up nearly as long as they should have with the cloud cover that we had. Anyway, I hooked up 14 bass, landed 9 largemouth, 2 white bass and had 3 other bass jump and throw the TW lure that I was throwing. Fun while it lasted, but it just didn't last very long. After the fish quit jumping, I mapped the area pretty good. This is a mid-lake hump and the fish were chasing minnows up near the top of the hump or just slightly off the edge. Went home for breakfast after that one hour of fishing. This could become addictive fishing.
I made one skip cast where I deliberately skipped the lure into the schooling fish. The lure hit the water, skipped about 2 feet high, traveled about another 6 feet and I believe that a bass hit it just before it hit the water. Good fish, but this one threw the bait after a short fight. Still a lot of fun.

What I ought to do is bass fish for 1 hour and then crappie fish the rest of the morning. Best of both worlds. emoBigSmile emoGeezer
