I had a chance for a short trip this evening on lower Loudoun with my neighbor from across the cove. We went out at 5:30 pm and back in the barn by 8:00. About five mins. into our run upriver we hit some schoolers (hybrids) we ran right into them, cut the motor and started casting. We landed approx. 22 before they sounded and we decided to move on. There were no blue fins in this group but most of them ran 3/4 to 1 pound. We went to our second spot and immediately jumped more schoolers(bass). We beat on them for about 30 mins and managed two full limits of keepers All small fish, best five was probably 8-9 pounds. The current started dying and we moved to our fourth and again got into some schooling fish the action was slower but the quality of the fish improved. After catching ten from this spot we moved to our last area to finish out the day. We moved in on the location and just sat and waited for the fish to reveal themselves. After about 10 mins we began to see some fish slurping the surface and we started throwing to them, I managed seven more fish with a smallmouth kicker, he measured by a hair and we finished fishing and headed in.
Best five would go 12.00 lbs. Total fish caught, I had 37 and Mr. Flood had well over 20( he lost count) great evening With over three limits landed.
Fish caught on bone spook jr., watermelon zoom finesse shaky heads, chartreuse and white spinnerbait bone fluke, and a white splatter back bandit 200. All fish caught on main channel, sometimes over 50 feet of water.
