Went downriver and got on an rocky pointy bank and threw a buzzbait about three times before I decided to abandon that idea.....I didn't really want to go to any of my usual spots on that part of the nick cause I haven't been on them any this year and didn't want to waste time not knowing if fish were on them... Long idling around wondering where to go I looked down on the graph and saw a nice ledge tapering off into the main river channel... I idled around it and kinda mapped it out to see how the ledge ran.. I pretty much milked it all day and all my keepers came from it..

Started with a c-rig which is my first choice in new water cause it is a fast way to cover deeper water quickly... Started catching some dinks so I kept with it cause always some bigger fish around smaller ones in the deeper water. Got first keeper in the boat around 7am I think... Ended up throwing either the c-rig and swimbait or a heavy jig.... Caught fish on all three of them and even culled one but it was only by an ounce... I would basically throw out deeper and drag the baits back into the shallow part which was around 12ft deep and the deeper part would go down to 30 or 40ft deep.. It turned out to be a nice long flat shell bed in about 16 to 18ft deep... I would bring up shells almost every throw with the swimbait and c-rig if the hook was exposed. Had short bites on most every throw and caught alot of dinks with only few keepers... Should be a nice spot next year in early spring long they stage up for the spawn..

Great weather and always feels good to bring back a limit whether you win or not... Good to see everyone... Missed my partner Rich at the ramp as we were blasting off and never could get his call cause my phone was roaming and I pay extra for roaming charges emoEnforce
