I own one of those crappy walmart poles lol. well ive started to get very interested in fishing and im going on a 3 day fishing trip. Any way we are going to be fishing mostly small mouth and having a chance of getting some walleye. So im wondering what i should get for my first decent rig. any info would be great. I'm planning on buying the following tackle for the trip.
Swivels, Mepps spinners. Beetle spins, and jigs with twist tails, and possibly Rapalas....
so any other tackle i need to get. and help with picking a rod and real choice would be great
Thanks

I agree with Lurtch. Try out a 7ft rod as well and see which you prefer. Most of mine are 7ft. Try a fat shad for smallies as well.

Gander mt has alot more selection to choose from. There prices are no different just look around and chose wisely. If goig for lower price go Ugly Stik,Reels you`ll have to look at.Salt water reels are built better.
Let us know what you end up with.

First thing you getta get is cool Jersey with a bunch of fishing companies on it plus you cant forget getting your local used car dealership to sponsor you. Then you set up a camera and start filming sh*t for youtube :-P
No, really though Ugly stick rods are awesome as for a reel I have a 7 bearing Challenger that thing rocks. In all honestly I think everyone has a fav but it doesnt mean it has to be yours look around and find something you really like and feels good to you. At the end of the day history shows the guys before us fished with whatever they could find and probably caught more fish than us.

any rod by ugly stick honestly ive caught a 12 lb wiper on an ultra light ugly stik with 6 lb. test so a medium would be just perfect as for a rod anything with at least 5 ball bearings
