Another beautiful morning on the Chick. We blasted off at 6:50 and headed to Wolftever. Our first spot produce our first squeaker keeper and a goober bass both on T-rigged worms. Fish were holding in about 5-10 feet.
We made a short move and after fishing for a little while I stick our second keeper on a 10" worm, 3.82 lber!!! It hit the worm as soon as it hit bottom and then got me tangled up in some structure so I did not think it was a keeper. Jmax kept asking me if it was a good fish and I told him no. It finally broke free from the structure and swam stright for the boat. I still thought it was a small fish. It was not until ti rolled at the boat that we both about crapped our pants. Luckly Jmax was good at netting fish from fishing with Beetlespin.emoPoke We ended up boating a few short fish and while Jmax was fishing some stucture I turned around in my chair (board from not getting any hits) and stated chunking a DT-16 out in the middle of nowhere. About my 10th random cast I had a fish hammer it and ended up being our third and last sqeaker keeper. Better to be lucky than good any day.emoLaugh
We left the Wolf and hit numerous mid lake deeper water areas and boated one more bass and lost one. Terrible fishing today. We ended the tourny with 3 total keepers out of 9 bass boated and two yellow stripe. Two keepers came on T-rigger worms and one on a ramdom crank bait bite. We also boated fish on spook and jigs. The deep bite was zero and all of our fish came from 5-15 feet.
We figured the weights would be low due to the tough day we had but we were shocked to get 2nd place with our small bag of 7.41 lbs. Just goes to show that you should always weigh in, you never know.
