Hal, Chick, Crappie, Bass & 'Gills, 9-07-09, Alone
#1
Since I had to quit early yesterday because Martie & I didn't take any rain gear I decided to chance the seadoo's and destroyers this morning to see if I could find some new places to catch crappie, emoScratch Put in Soddy Creek about 7:00 and headed out only to find a boat waiting for me to catch up, emoScratch Didn't know who it was but he introduced himself right off and it was my pleasure to meet a fellow CFF'er Mr. Murdock from Dunlap. emoThumbsup We sat in the middle of the creek with boats going by on both sides, for 10 or 15 minutes discussing the pro's and con's of how to catch those speckled fish, emoBigSmile (Great meeting you Murdock emoThumbsup ) Went on out in the river and headed up north to look for some new spots, emoScratch Didn't have a great day but had fun. The weather was as nice as it could be with the temps in the 70's and almost no wind. I ended the day with 10 crappie, mostly keeper sized although I didn't keep any today and 3 bass along with 2 'gills, emoTongue I did have my PB Brown Fish day with a Smallie at just over 18 inches. A very healthy fish too. He is now looking for someone else's lure 'cause I put him back to grow bigger, emoSmile I stayed at it 'till about noon when the destroyers and chiggers began to churn up the waves and make it almost impossible to stay near a dock to fish so headed for the trailer, Sad Lure of the day was BG bleeding shad and crystal shad and the crappie seemed to want it at about a 6 count on a 1/16th leadhead. It was sure fun while it lasted and I did manage to find a couple new places for the crappie, emoThumbsup emoFish
