Nice- your luck has been better than mine...
I went out to mead yesterday, and the wind and waves picked up real bad.
I got nailed by a succession of big breaking waves that completely swamped my kayak. (that little grey one)
That mo-fo filled up to the brim with water, and then water started leaking through the rivets and filled up the hull. I became almost neutrally buoyant, and was sinking- FAST.-
I started bailing, but for every 2 gallons i could bail out, 5 more would rush in with the next wave.
On top of that, the head-wind was pushing 30mph.
I had to abandon ship to dump out the water, but after dumping it, and climbing back in, the hull was so full, that i rode low enough in the water column to just take on more water with the next wave, and it was back to square one.
It took me almost an hour and a half to paddle 3/4 of a mile. I was drenched and running out of energy.
It was so bad that if it were someone with less kayaking experience than me, it could have been a fatal outing.
Bottom line is... F that kayak. It's a horrible design that should only be used on ponds the size of FLSP.
And i missed the only bite of the day on a big YUM ribbon-tail.
I think I'm gonna take a week off... Anyone wanna buy a kayak?

Wow a striper hehe, whats with the skinny stripers. I just started fishing a couple months ago and most of the larger stiper I have seen caught are some what skinny. Some where damn right anorexic. Out of about 8 I have seen, only two where worth eating, counting yours.
I was at willow on Wednesday, snagged 5 trout before the they stopped biting at about 9am. They just completely stopped biting. They where hitting power bait and a gold trout lure agressively and then they just stopped.
I did notice the water level has went down about 10 feet from last month when I was there. I checked some websites and did notice the water level fluctuates as the seasons change, it was kinda of shocking though. I fish shallow water out there for my trout and that 10 feet drop in water whiped out my fishing spot damn near. I still got 5 though and wasn't even putting out much effort, so they are still out there near my spot. You just have to catch them early.
