Hal, Chick, Mixed - Crappie, 'gills & Bass, 10-30-09, Drum King
#1
It's Friday and time for Drum King and my weekly fishing trip, emoSmile We put in at 8 AM and went in search of some crappie, dodging some pretty stiff wind and big waves, :o which made for an interesting day, Smile Strongest 6 MPH wind that I've ever seen, Wink We struck out on our first stop but it got better with the second stop which was a dock, I think the total from that one was 15 but DK may have to correct me as he had the counter today, emoSmile We mostly fished bluffs and docks today and fish were very scattered. Catch a few here and they would shut off and we would go to another place and find them hungry there but only a few then on to the next stop. We ended the day with 46 crappie, 2 spot bass, 6 'gills and 1 'cracker. The bait of choice seemed to be BG Patriot but they would take various others too, emoThumbsup Almost all fish were caught deep, 12 count or more and in at least 15 FOW. All fish were returned to grow bigger.
The biggest excitement of the day was DK's transducer bracket breaking off and letting the transducer bang into the foot of the motor while at full throttle. Made some weird sounds that we had never heard before and caused a shutdown in the middle of a creek to see what the noise was, emoScratch Well that wasn't the worst of the troubles 'cause DK's phone and camera got a bath but I'll let him tell that story 'cause I'm sure he can do a much better job than me at telling that one. I'll have to say he did keep his cool much better than I would have and didn't add any of the adjectives that I would have, emoAngry
All in all it was a very good day except for the wind, waves, and DK's $$'s going in the drink, Well maybe it wasn't such a good day for him but any day on the lake fishing is much better than a day at work, emoCool emoFish
BTW; ........I'm not sure which of us caught the biggest fish of the day because they were pretty close in size but I'm sure who caught the smallest, :o That would be me, emoThumbsup emoSmile Check out the last picture, the jig is bigger than the minnow, emoSmile He was a "Aim High" kinda guy but it didn't work out like he thought it was gonna, emoRolleyes They don't shoot under the docks hooked like that too well so he's now slow movin' bass bait emoBigSmile
