Lake Mead Sunday
#1
Sunday, 11/15/09- Hit the water at about 6:30am, cold, windy day.

Thought I'd leave my center console at home and try out my son's inflatable in Lake Mead. Launched at Gov't Wash. Motored over to Las Vegas Wash to net shad.

No livewell on this little boat, put shad in a green bucket.

Anchored near where the water flows out of the Wash and into the Lake in about 25' of water.Wind and waves rocked the boat back and forth. Started putting shad to work.

Live bait hook-up!

Action was steady until the bait was gone. Ended up with eight nice small stripers.

This small inflatable only needs twelve inches of water with the engine in the shallow setting. About four inches with the motor, up using the push pole. Not difficult to toss a net from, and easy to beach if you want to toss the net from shore.

Off the water by 11:00am. What a great day to solo.

Nice to see ya back out on the water! I went out Monday from callville- got a smallmouth, but I didnt fish too hard, and that was the only fish of the day. The wind had died down by Monday, so it was real nice out there. That little inflatable looks cool. I need somethin with a motor- Sometimes I'm just too lazy to paddle...

Hello BaySport,

Did about the same I saw you out there but did not know that was you. You where moving back toward government. That boat runs at a pretty good clip! Going to have to get the ultra light set ups out then the little ones will be a lot more fun to reel in.

From a boat they are sent straight down with a light weight. No need to jig them. Windy days, anchor, chum the shad that die, fish with the live ones. Calm day, drift using the electric motor to stay over fish. No matter how you use them it is hard to go wrong with live shad.

It's a lot of fun. A nice change. My son takes it to Utah and fishes the small lakes of Cedar Mt. It is awesome on the river, upstream, near the dam where the current is strong. I plan to make use of it in the future.

You are preaching to the choir. I'm setting mine up for this weekend!
