I managed to convince Pete (Nauticman) that it was a good idea to get out of a warm bed and go fishing this morning. We put in at CFP about 7:30 and it was a bit brisk to say the least. We were bundled up pretty good and Pete had hot chocolate so we were good to go.

We started on some open water structure and nothing happening there. Finally got onto some fish on a couple of docks and bluffs. We managed 32 Crappie and 4 bass with no huge fish, but some solid keepers. Pete is so used to his bait getting hammered by the Riverwalk Smallmouth that he was having a little trouble detecting the bite. Then he got going pretty well. We both missed a lot of fish today. They were very light biters today, and we caught a lot with a dead stick, just letting the current move the bait around. We fished mostly BG Shads and my favorite bluegrass color seemed to be best for me. We never did get a real strong bite going, catch a few and then they quit, so we moved around a lot.

Not the best day ever, but we had a good time and I enjoyed having Pete in the back seat. I also like my new propane heater. You can't leave it on running as it blows out the pilot lite, but when you stop and fire it up it feels really good to warm up your hands. Not trying to heat the boat, just a little warm source for cold hands. Pictures will post shortly.

Regards, Labman
