Chesterfield todays report!
#1
so i went to chester field for the first time today i didnt get there until late because i woke up late and a buddy of mine told me that 24 mile res. is another name for chesterfield well he was wrong i drove right past it and started up to 24 mile. on the way to 24 mile i was wondering why there was only one set of tire tracks in the snow. anyways after i made a dicovery in the fishing regs we back tracked too chesterfield. we got set up at 1:00 pm in about 20 feet of water got in the hut my buddy dropped a pink paddle bug tipped with a little piece of crawler and i dropped a green with gold flake paddle bug 2 minutes later my buddy hooks and ices a nice 16 inch bow that was released. 2 minutes after that i land a 20 inch bow that i kept. about 5 minutes later my buddy lands another one around 16 that was released. about another 5 minutes and boom i land a 19 incher that i keep so im done. then about another five minutes my buddy lands a 19 incher. then they got smart we sat for another hour my buddy missing a whole bunch of bites and hooking and loosing a few fish then my buddy decided he didnt need his last fish so we packed up and headed home. the bight was so fast in the middle of the afternoon i think i just found my new favorite ice fishing grounds. i am in a wicked hurry so i will post some pictures of the fish later tonight! GO PADDLE BUGS!

Nice going! I did a little ice fishing Sat and today. First time in about 14 years. I won't say where I went other than it is less than 30 mins from my house. Sat I caught 13 fish in one hour, kept 6 that were 17+. Today it was quite a bit slower, took all afternoon, but landed round 30 total. They are nice fat fish, perfect for smoking.

I think I may have to go do some more ice fishing soon.

Awesome....13 fish in an hour is going to keep you busy. that is like a fish every 5+ minutes. Do you have more than one hole?

You are my Hero PVRT!

Had 3 holes, 3 poles. Ended up only using 2 because I could not keep the other baited. Had doubles at times when I could keep the hooks baited.

Chrome Junky,

Your report makes me wish I had stayed for the rest of the day on Saturday. Well I still had a great time at Devil, and I have a goal to ce fish 15 locations this winter.

No, it was not Chester. I just had to give ChromeJunkie a pic since we ran into each other at Sportsman's Friday when I was buying all my ice fishing stuff. Seems that happens alot. I did not expect to catch these fish. I just went out to try all the new stuff out and make sure everything worked before I got serious. The fish were a bonus.

roads were super slick on the way up there was about 3 to 4 inches of fresh powder on the road but we followed the plow up all the way from lava hotsprings to chesterfield. when we left a massive storm had moved in and had started to put down some heavy heavy snow so that was an interesting drive out

The road is typically plowed all the way up past the dam to the boat ramp area. However, I have been up there several times after heavy snow storms when the access road was not plowed requiring a half mile hike in. This happened to me once last winter around this time. Just depends on if the county decides to plow or not.

Hetalheadhunter the parisites show up in the summer mainly when it gets warm. It looks like someone sprinkled coarse pepper on the fish. It supposedly a skin parisite and doesn't get in the meat. they say you can eat them. It goes away when the cold comes. the ones I caught last week looked fine. Heres a pic of one pretty clean. and the 2 I kept I gave to brother inlaw and he's still alive So I'm assuming you can munch on them

[:/]If you fillet them you will find that the parisites are in the meat just under the skin. If you put pepper on your fish you wouldn't even notice them, but they are there.

What Poky said makes sense, but I only see the parasites around this time of year.
I fished the Web up by Echo and the Trout have it nasty.
They say it won't hurt to eat....but, I can't do it.
