UPCOMING CANDLELIGHT EVENTS

Participants can use their newly constructed snowshoes at the family-friendly candlelight events taking place at Buffalo River State Park on Saturday, Jan. 30, and Saturday, Feb. 6. Ice candles will illuminate a .75-mile trail for snowshoeing or hiking from 6 to 9 p.m. both days. A 1.25-mile trail will also be lit with candles for cross-country skiing. After exploring the trails, visitors can warm up around a campfire and enjoy refreshments.

The candlelight events are free, although vehicle permits are required to enter Minnesota state parks. A one-day permit will provide a vehicle full of family and friends with a whole day of fun for just $5. Year-round permits, $25, provide unlimited access to Minnesota state parks for twelve months from the month of purchase.

More information on other candlelight events taking place at Minnesota state parks is available online.
