WinterRedfish/MosquitoLagoon/Orlando/Daytona,Florida
#1
The water has finally chilled down to winter water conditions on the north Mosquito Lagoon. Redfish are schooling, and getting more active as the morning gets later with some warming sunshine, this is the usual early winter pattern as the Reds and Seatrout are still getting used to the cold water temperatures after a year of nice warm Florida saltwater. On a recent charter fishing trip with regular clients Bob and Kelly from Ontario Canada, we caught 6 Redfish with the largest being the 29” over slot Redfish which Kelly is holding in the picture before it’s release. A couple of days later on a scouting trip with fellow guide Capt. Justin Price, we caught a dozen or so Reds and several Seatrout including the attractive 27” Redfish with 12 spots that I am holding before release in the picture below.
