A much-awaited construction project will start this week at Round Lake Wetland Conservation Area in Starke County, temporarily closing the facility to the public.
The 140-acre property is managed by Kankakee Fish and Wildlife Area.
A permanent water control structure and low-head berm will be built under the direction of the DNR. The goal is to raise the water to the determined legal lake level and restore the surrounding wetland habitat.
The closure will last approximately three months but is weather dependent.
