EAST CAPE, MAGDALENA BAY AND ZIHUATANEJO CONDITIONS
EAST CAPE, BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO
IN GENERAL: Aside from some bumpy seas and strong south wind in the PM caused by a series of storms moving out to the west quite a ways below us, it was business as usual. The tuna shifted offshore a bit farther and seemed to be getting a bit larger with a few fatties reported here and there. Finally a few blues began to bite adding an element of surprise to those who weren't expecting it. A fish the size of a VW behind the teasers will get anyone's attention. Dorado in small groups are being found in open water and what is considered to be one of the best roosterfish bites in years continues.

· OFFSHORE: Expect a longer boat ride to get to the tuna and with a little luck you may find a billfish going to and from.
· INSHORE: Jacks and roosters chasing mullet should get your adrenalin pumping
· BEACH: Try to get out early and beat the south wind. Watch for bubba cruising the seam looking for an unsuspecting mullet.
BILLFISH - Blues, stripers, and sails beginning to show in better numbers throughout the Bay..
YELLOWFIN TUNA - Be careful, they are getting bigger.
DORADO - Small groups, big fish, makes it 12-weight time.
ROOSTERFISH - Don't let the wind stop you. It doesn't bother the roosters.
JACK CREVALLE - Try the sticks under the schools of sardina. Also try
beneath the boat mooring lines in front on the hotels. It's been pretty
good. No boat? Get a kayak.
BARRILETE OR MEXICAN SKIPJACK - Look for the birds close to the water on the way out to the tuna grounds.
PARGO AND CABRILLA - Blind casting on the rocky point producing fair action.
SIERRA - Lost your fly? Probably a sierra!

IN GENERAL: Less than ideal conditions offshore as the remnants of Claudette engulf the peninsula in clouds followed by wind. A few yellows found in deeper water near the Entrada. Esteros getting little pressure as the locals focus on the recently opened scallop season.

YELLOWTAIL - Not much on the surface.
CORVINA - Still the bread and butter fish in the bay
SNOOK - A few smaller fish hooked and lost in the channel near Devils Curve.
HALIBUT - Sandy beach and chartreuse Clouser. What a combination.
SIERRA - Watch for the birds in the bay.
ZIHUATANEJO, MAINLAND MEXICO

IN GENERAL: The seas are very calm, the blue water is only a couple of miles off the beach and the air temperatures are never more than about 92º (but the humidity is about 85%).
The blue water fishing is decent, with an average of each boat releasing two to three sailfish per day. An occasional dorado is showing up and hopefully they should turn on in the next couple of weeks.
The inshore fishing is outstanding with the roosterfish and jack crevalle leading the action. About the only two boats fishing them are Adolpho on the Dos Hermanos and Arturo on the Janeth. They are getting an average of 5 roosters each day. The roosters are averaging about 30 pounds, with a few in the 50 pound class having been released as well. They are also averaging about 10 to 15 jacks a day.
