I saw the big pink blob on the weather satellite pics this morning and have had some great fishing right before fronts hit so decided to see if the fish had moved from yesterday. The spots that were so good yesterday are just a short run from the house so I figured if it started raining that I could get home fast. I went to the dock that had been so good yesterday and as I came up the owner was coming down the stairs. We chatted as I caught a fish on all but one cast the first 10 casts. I decided that this was too easy and decided to ask my neighbor that had been watching if he was interested in going to another spot that had bigger fish on it. He said that he had lots to do but I baited him by telling him we could go for 20 minutes or less. He took the bait and we went off to spot number two. We caught 4 or 5 good ones there in the 15 to 20 minutes or so and he hung up and said, if I break off I am finished. He broke off and we went back to his place. I let him off and we talked for a few minutes and I continued to get bit every cast and catch one on most of them. I ended up with 35 crappie and kept 6 that were over 11 inches. All caught in about an hour. The prefrontal conditions were just perfect and the fish were just tearing it up. I came back home and called a buddy that works downtown and he said that it had been snowing hard there for quite a while. 10 minutes after I got up to the house the blizzard began here. What a fantastic short fishing trip in my backyard! Here's a pic of a couple.
