Finally caught some crappie

Got out in a friends boat today out here in Idaho, and after watching some guys who had the crappie dialed in, we got close enough so I could see their setup, and got over the right depth, finished well with 24 4 being 10" and an average of 9" on the rest.

Most were hits on a all white tube jig and then a few hit on an all chartruess jig. In about 20fow. I had the white jig on the bottom and the yellow above tied on drop shot style.

all those are good , however if you can use live minnows they will almost always catch more fish . wend chill here this morn 5 below. not fishing just wishing.[laugh]

I'm going to a crappie pond here in Poinsett county Arkansas in the "sunken lands" game reserve next saturday and might some GREAT photo's to post. The pond hold's white and black Crappie that average 2.5 lbs. ( if you know the "holes") Most caught there are 1lb + if you get on the right hole. *crossing my fingers... *edit: Just wanted to add the pond we are going to crappie fish next saturday had an exciting moment last spring when a crappie fisherman made the news with a 3lb 8oz black crappie from the same pond. It holds some huge crappie and is one of the best kept secrets here in Poinsett county. Even after the Jonesboro news reported on his catch the craze faded because the "holes" are the secret. The pond isn't that large, about 3 acres but if you don't know the "holes" you can crappie fish there all day and only catch the 1lb or less and a few 1lb +... hehehe it's good to be a local in a pond that has the potential to produce the state record crappie. I really envy you guys in the south and even Idaho, fishing for those great tasting Crappies is fun, especially if you're able to use live minnows! Here in Washington State we can't use live minnows and don't really have too many lakes that produce nice-sized Crappies, especially here on the west side of the Cascades. Now, Moses Lake and the Spokane area, that's a different story.
