family camping HELP!
#1
Hey guys-
Need a little help.
I'm taking my family and another family camping over Labor Day weekend and need to make reservations. All in all, we'll have 4 little kids under 3. Sooooo, i'm looking for places to camp with bathrooms and showers. With our without fishing nearby, but with fishing would be GREAT.
Also, we'd like to stay away from the desert camping in Southern Utah, we'd like to go to more of forest with evergreens type of campground.

Does anyone know of such a place in Utah? The only one with showers I've been able to find is Hyrum Res. outside of Logan.

Thanks for any help!!!!!!

Bring a sunshower and I have a lot of ideas. The shower thing just limits you too much. Your missing some great opportunities.

Try the Bear Lake area. there is a KOA in Garden City, a few state park campgrounds and public beach, and great fishing. Here's some links to start you off!

[#ff0000]I would say start off at Hyrum for a night, if you want to get wet bring sandals as the waterline at the beach area is down past the sand to the golf ball sized rocks now. [/#ff0000][#ff0000]If you are into high alpine forest and meadows, wild flowers galore, pavement all the way to the lake, decent restrooms but no showers and a quiet little no motors lake, try Tony Grove for a night on the way to Bear Lake. It always winter kills but they usually keep it full of rainbow planters. I have a little 12 foot cartop rowboat that you are welcome to borrow if you do head up that way. When you get to Bear Lake check in, take your shower and have dinner and a show at Pickleville Playhouse. It's great food and a lot of dang fun. All of those areas fill up rather fast on weekends so try to make reservations now or get there fairly early in the morning, preferably Thursday or Friday, maybe 9 or 10 at the latest and hope to get lucky. Reservations at Pickleville Playhouse can be made by calling (435) 946-2918. Other directions to go for forest and evergreens would be to Fishlake or Flaming Gorge. They both have some "white porcelain" camp sites with shower access. They are privately managed so plan on brining a roll of quarters for a five minute shower. That's not all bad however, as you can conserve water by putting all the kids in one shower, hand them a handful of quarters to entertain themselves, and then sharing quarters with your wife in the adjoining one. Who knows? Might end up with 5-6 under 4 to plan for next year! Two more suggestions; try Jordanelle, they not only have showers but have washers and dryers if you feel the need to bring all of your laundry camping with you. Lastly, for the desert motif, you can't beat Corral Pink Sand Dunes located kind of between Bryce Canyon and Zion's National Park. It's a great little state park with lots of pink sand dunes to play in and free showers, mom likes it, kids love it, no fish anywhere to be found, unless you get lucky and dig up a fossilized sharks tooth. I have five kids in seven years plus two foster kids and a wife that hates bugs, fish, and most especially outhouses and dirt so these have all passed the "Goodhousekeeping" seal of approval as tolerable at my house. Good Luck![/#ff0000]

I just had a family camping trip and we went to Payson Lakes. there are bathroom facilities but no showers. The scenery is gorgeous, the campground is nice. You walk down a paved path to the lake and the fishing is good. We caught alot of nice little planters with rainbow powerbait. They also have a small area where you can launch rafts, canoes, or float tubes from. The areas where you can fish are fixed really nice with brick, we had alot of little kids when we went and it was really enjoyable, some of them brought bikes to ride around.Hope this helps. I don't know what area you are in.

Strawberry is really nice also, you can buy a shower there or if you are like me and camping with kidos you can always get a room at their lodge and enjoy the hot tub and showers and bathrooms anytime. Payson lakes is really nice also plus there are three lakes you can fish. Fish lake is nice and they have cabins as well to rent, however if I remeber right Fish lake is a zoo over labor day because it is their final church service for the year and I think they start closing down; I just remeber it beign an absolute joke over labor day there.

Also Jordanele has som really nice tent camp sites and they too have nice facilities and showers, including a family shower so you can herd all the kids together and get them all at once.
