Decided to fish this afternoon till 6, and no longer, well after looking for arrowheads till 4:30, I made my way to 1 of my favorite honey holes. Got there, wet my line, & looked at my watch, it was 4:40. The fish were there, at the depth they always are, and were hungry for the color I started with, so many factors in my favor already. Now let me say this, this was one of the, if not the best day of crappie fishing I have ever had, no question what so ever. I had no intentions of keeping any fish, but I did get a couple of pics of 2 interesting crappie, that I will post tomorrow. Now to the good stuff, @ 5:07 I released the 30th keeper, that's 2 limits in 27 minutes. Then I decided to go for the 3rd limit...got it. Then went for the big 50, got it. What the hell, I went for 4 limits, 60 Keeper Crappie...Got it! When I released the 60th fish, it was 6:15. In that 1hr 35min, I did let the school rest for 5-10min & tried up the bank a little, also caught a 3.5lb largemouth, & 2 short crappie. Of the 2 interesting crappie, one was an 11" crooked spined fish that had the upper body of a 13" to 14" fish, & the other was a 15.25" Black Slab, my biggest of the year so far. 95% on float, set at 4' to 6', the other 5% was tight lining. 1/16 Bobby Garland Baby Shad. I may never match this day before I die, but I will never forget it..
