After the rain yesterday mornin, my neighbor Mr. Kirk talked me into goin down below Nickajack Dam to chase the stripe around. We put the boat in about 11 o'clock and put several in the boat right off the bat. It got pretty windy but we wound up catchin 15 or 20 small stripe. Water at the dam was between 49 and 53 and every boat I saw up there was catchin something! Mr. Kirk boated about a 3.5lb spot on a spoon next to the big lock wall in 20ft of water which was very impressive! We moved on downriver to chase the smallies and get out of the wind a little. Hit several spots that have produced in the past. Had 2 bites right off the bat but couldn't seal the deal. Then, hooked into a toad! Fought her for about ten seconds or so and she pulled off. Never got to see it, but by the way it was fightin and pulling drag, probably would've been a personal best! Fished for about another hour with a couple of spots and a nice 3lb smallie. Captain Kirk took a picture with my phone but forgot to hit SAVE or I would have posted it! All in all a good day on the water.
