Hal and I have 2 reports for today. The AM report at the Riverpark and the PM report on the Chick. We fished for white bass this morning at the Riverpark and caught 24. The size was a lot smaller today than I have caught the past 2 trips. But, we did catch 2 small rockfish, so that was a bonus. We caught a couple of yellow bass, 4 crappie, and about 10 bluegills. One largemouth and a couple of spotted bass. Same lure as the previous 2 trips. Oh, I almost forgot. I caught a small drum too. emoBig
Now for the PM trip. We fished for crappie and noticed a lot of people were out today. The parking lot at Tyner Lane only had 1 spot when we arrived there a little bit before 12:00. Before we left the ramp, I caught one crappie that flipped off as I was lifted him in the boat. Did I mention that there were a lot of fishermen out today?
Then we tried one shallow spawning bank and after just a few minutes on it, I determined that the fish haven't moved in on this bank yet. So, out to the other parts of the lake we went. We didn't fish around any other fishermen and really stayed away from the structures that they were fishing, but we still caught a bunch. 31 more crappie including my first TARP black crappie of 2010. It was 14.5 inch beauty that is still trying to grow as we released it along with most of the others. I did keep almost a limit for the freezer.
Hal took the white bass and a couple of spots for his freezer and we released all the rest of the fish. Hal caught a little smallmouth bass therefore giving us a grand slam on bass today. White, Yellow, Spotted, Largemouth, and Smallmouth. We fished deeper structure for the crappie and caught several quality fish. Hit one of my favorite spots and was totally surprised to find crappie there instead of going out to spawn. BG shads in various colors for us today and 1/16 oz jigheads and about a 10 count or more. Water temp was 55 degrees when we quit. I'm tuckered out. Not used to fishing 9 hours in a day.emoBig
