It was drizzling and Nan was busy so I wanted to check some places to see if the bass were shallow. I knew that they must be and wanted to check it out with the cloud cover. There was almost no wind all morning it seemed but once I got out there the rain stopped and the wind came up. I figured the front had just gone through, rats! The wind was blowing very hard and it was tough keeping position. With that I went "trappin'". I just let the wind push me back into some spawning sloughs. Being a crappie fisherman the first fish I caught, was of course a crappie, snagged in the back. I did catch one good bass in the back of the first slough that I fished but couldn't get another bite there. I ran to a few other sloughs and got some pecks but not another fish until I hit my last slough at about 5pm. Finally started getting some bites. The water is way down and so I snagged on lots of stuff. I ended up with 8 bass with all but 2 being 2-3lbs. It was a strange day out there as 3 of the bass that I caught were foul hooked, each one after being caught on a stump. I figure what must have happened was there were fish at the stumps, just looking at the lure that was hung and being shaken by me trying to get the bait off the stump and when it finally came loose it snagged the bassX3 today, very strange. It was fun being out there but the wind was brutal. Here's a pic of a couple of the bass.
