My uncles came down to catch some fish for three days. Day one was focused on crappie. Told them I hadn't crappie fished yet this year, but with the water warming quickly I figured this would be a good weekend. Started out in Savanna Bay and just hit some deeper banks with assorted brush piles/laydowns. Spent a couple hours working the area over. Caught probably 15 keepers ( 11" and over) is what we were keeping. After a while hit a marina down lake and that was right about the time the front was blowing through , so the wind was tough for a little bit. Seemed to stir up the fish though. Moved a few more times through out the day. Caught at least a few fish everywhere we went. Highlight of the day was my uncle Phil catching a 15' 2.1lb black crappie. My uncle dave had a big white crappie , measured 14", but didn't weigh it. They ended up taking 29 crappie home. Had three 14" crappie and a 15"er, and everything else was around 11 and 12 inches. Heading back for more crappie in the morning. I have a coulple pictures, I'll try to upload tomorrow.
