I took my grand daughter, Tiffany out for a couple of hours this afternoon for some crappie fishing. We did great for the short amount of time. We fished a spawning bank for an hour and caught 11 male spawners. Then fished docks and caught 22 and every fish on docks were females that looked to be spawned out. Maybe a couple have just a few eggs left, but most had flat bellies. Thanks to Norman's (Labman) report yesterday to give a clue to the depth of the fish. We had about 20 keepers out of the 33 total fish. Largest that we measured was 12.5 inches. Good day. Now, I am officially tired. Still got a few spots to clean for supper, but a nap might come first. emoBig

We caught our fish on pearl ringer stingers that had the nose dipped in hot pink and the tail in chartreuse. When the fish are at this stage in the spawning season, they prefer hot pink for some reason. I stumbled onto this a few years ago. Some days they won't touch chartreuse by itself, but will hit it in combination with hot pink. The spawn is just about over, at least for this wave of fish. emoBig
