Carl Guffey, Watts Bar, Bass and Crappie, 4/14/2010, Friends
I went fishing(shocking) with some friends of mine this morning on Watts Bar. TVA was having a media day so I was able to go with the National Conservation Director of the TBF "Mark Gintert". Although I did a good impression of a Tennessee Bass Federation Conservation Director for the Tennessee Federation. It was a really good day, the fish were doing their best improvisation of what it takes to escape, but we did capture a few.
The capture rate was about 80 plus or minus fish an hour and this seemed to please everyone involved. It was amazing the numbers of 3.5 to 5.0 lb. fish we captured, that had never been caught(NO HOOK MARKS AT ALL). I tried to keep count of our best five per each trip, it would really keep you busy. Our first trip of the day was nice with our best fish(5.4 lbs.) and a beautiful brown(smallmouth) fish that was at least 3.5 lbs. But our best run was close to 23 lbs. per five fish on our second run.
All in all just a good day. Thank you TVA for having all of us involved sharing the day.
