Hood Park Pond Closed for Youth Fishing Event
#1
Action / Species affected: Close fishing for anglers age 15 and older (non-juvenile) at Hood Park Pond from 8 a.m. April 16 until 1 p.m. April 17.

Location: Hood Park Pond in northwest Walla Walla County at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Hood Park, along the lower Snake River just upstream of the Hwy 12 river crossing.

Dates: 8 a.m. April 16, through 1:00 p.m. April 17, 2010.

Reason for action: Eliminate premature harvest of trout dedicated to a youth fishing event. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has coordinated with many partners to provide a fishing event for kids from several elementary classrooms in the Tri-Cities.

Other Information: The pond will close for fishing by anglers age 15 years and older on April 16, and will re-open for fishing by the general public at 1 p.m. on April 17. This is the first year Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, in a partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, has stocked trout into Hood Park Pond for public fishing. Please refer to the statewide freshwater rules in the 2009/2010 Sport Fishing Rules Pamphlet (valid through April 2010), or the new 2010-11 Sport Fishing Pamphlet, as fishing regulations for Hood Park Pond are not listed separately in the Eastside Lakes - Special Rules section.
