I snuck off a little early today to wet a line and dodge some honey-do's. I bought some new creature baits a couple of days ago and wanted to flip some docks to try them out. My plans soon changed when I found a ball of shad on the edge of a flat. I followed them around for about 30 minutes and caught 3 keepers, 3 slicks and a stripe. 2 came on a trap, the rest on a spinnerbait. I also had 5 long line releases, one of which felt like a good fish. The biggest for the day was a 3 lber with blood dripping from his tail. After chasing the shad, I decided to try out my original plan and flipped docks with no results. I looked for the shad again, but they were long gone, so I headed out into the main lake. Managed one more slick before I saw the storm clouds rolling in and realized that I had left my rain gear at home. It was a short day, but it sure beat work! I also snapped a picture of a jake strutting on the bank.
