Oregon Fishing Update <br><br><br>October 19th - October 25th, 2001 <br><br>Fisheries update: <br><br>Sturgeon fishing is really good for both bank and boat anglers in the gorge. Other options would be the Trojan area and Portland Harbor near Kelly Point Park. Salmon fishing is surprisingly slow in the Bonneville area. The fish are there, they are just not biting. <br><br>On the Clackamas and Sandy, not enough rain to make a significant difference although the Sandy would be a better bet than the Clackamas. The river did come up and some fresh fish are likely to show. <br><br>The north coast is an exciting place to be. Fall chinook keep falling on Tillamook Bay, especially to the spinner anglers working the upper bay. Tides will wane this upcoming weekend and the fishing should not be as good as it was during the middle of the week. <br><br>The same holds true for the Nestucca and Siletz however some fresh fish did come in giving us some quality fish to choose from. Further south, the Umpqua continues its good fishing and most south coast rivers that are known for quality chinook (Coquille) are coming through with numbers from "yesteryear!" Offshore salmon fishing has been good out of Newport, fair out of Garibaldi and best out of Depoe Bay. <br><br>The Clackamas is slow for coho. Sandy River anglers are finding good numbers of bright silver amongst the darkening fish on the upper stretches. Steelhead are plentiful in the North Fork Santiam River. <br><br>Steelhead are also available and vulnerable to stealthy approach on the Wilson and Nestucca Rivers. Coho are available above the 101 Bridge on the Trask River. The Deschutes continues to provide fine steelhead and trout opportunities to hardware and fly anglers.
