While on the way back from some gerrard trout fishing on Kootenay Lake, we stopped at the ramp in Lewiston. The F & G were there checking, and I asked how they had been doing. On Saturday, there were only 8 boats on the water, and he said only one wild had been caught. He hadn't seen any fish on Sunday yet. So, in a word, slow. Mike

It is good to hear an early report, hopefully it will pick up. On a side note how was Kootenay Lake?

Wish I could give you a good fish story about Kootenay, but not so. We fished it for two days. My wife hooked three on the first day, and landed a 6 pound Gerrard/Kamploops rainbow. Every one hit the same peacock streamer. And that was that. Talked to the owner of the fishing store there, and he said we were the only ones he had heard of that so much as had a bite. Last week, the local guide went out and caught 21 big ones. A local lady showed us two pictures of kamploops trout she had caught this winter, one 25.5 pounds, and one 24 pounder. But it has been that way all winter; one or two hot days, and then nothing for a few days. Mike

I would love to get up there, but need to get a boat first.
