FLSP Bass Report - 5/1/10
#1
Made it out of bed and out to Floyd Lamb this morning. I had been there twice before in the last 2 weeks for a total of about 3 hours, all in the late afternoon. Caught a LMB each time, couldn't have been a pound each. Today was my first morning trip.

Got my line in the water about 6:30AM. The park was pretty empty. Fished around the reeds in the first pond for about 20 minutes with no luck. Wind was brutal up there so I made my way back to the last pond where I figured I'd be protected from the wind a bit more. Plus, I had caught my other fish there.

Ended up catching 2 that were tiny, a bit under a lb near the reeds. Went to the other side of the reeds and caught one that was a bit healthier. Probably just over a lb. Then I hooked up with a really nice one fishing a visible stump. I had made 3 or 4 casts at it and nothing. Then I thought, one more time, and I casted at the opposite side of the stump. 2.5lb LMB slammed my brush hog. Very nice, healthy, big bellied fish. Put up a nice fight and had my cheapo ugly stick bent in half. Felt good! Had another little one on after that but she spit the hook.

All in all, a good morning. 4 fish in just under 3 hours. All were caught using texas-rigged baby brush hogs (pumpkinseed) on 2/0 hooks, 6lb test. Fished super slow.

Saw two other guys throwing spinnerbaits with no luck. I also threw a little rooster tail on my microlite rod when I got bored slow fishing with no bites.

Unfortunately, no camera as I left my phone in the truck all night and the battery was dead.
