Michael has been wanting to get me out to sample the rock bass (google eye) fishing at the Riverpark for some time, and we finally managed it this morning!<br /><br />When he contacted me, I started squealing like a little girl, dancing from foot to foot, and leaving a piddle trail on the tile floor. Mrs EricM whacked me on the nose with a rolled-up newspaper and sent me out to the back yard.<br /><br />I woke up early and was too excited to go back to sleep. This was it, senior citizen day, and I had my own personal guide! For Michael and I, it&#39;s kind of like going to, uhh, a &quot;boobie&quot; bar - we don&#39;t really care about the size, we just love the action! emoBig
In fact, Michael commented about the smell of honeysuckle along the bank and I told him I think I dated her once - too much perfume and just the slightest whiff of fish................<br /><br />It didn&#39;t take all that long to get there in the Wiskers rocket, and by the time I got my earlobes untied from behind my head he was into the fish. He certainly has a great touch with a jig and amazing accuracy! Pretty soon he grunted and said &quot;a 6 lb bass!&quot;, and he was really close. He&#39;s catching bass approaching 6 pounds, and I&#39;m catching bass approaching 6 inches. Amazing how aggressive those little spots can be.<br /><br />We had a nice wildlife day too. A mink was working the riprap bank, a groundhog showed itself, a heron kept flying back and forth across the river with big twigs for a nest, and a couple of Canada geese expressed their displeasure when we got too close to the bank with their 2 goslings.<br /><br />MrWiskers donned &quot;The Hat&quot;, and after I took a picture he made me do the old &quot;oops, the trolling motor was pointed sideways&quot; dance and had me envisioning another unscheduled swim. Of course, I had to then photograph his &quot;stick fish&quot; catch.<br /><br />Oh yeah, and we caught fish! The google eyes were really tough to get to with the huge water flow, but we managed a few. I broke off big fish of the day (had to be a really nice drum), and we got into the redbreast sunfish in a couple of tiny locations, but they were really good sized and a riot on the ultralights.<br /><br />Again, thanks for the trip and teaching me a few new things. I&#39;ll put the info to work later this week and early the next! Hoo-eeee!
